Audio Desk Systeme’s CD lathe/CD Sound Improver is a simple lathe built specifically to cut a bevel on the playing side of a CD or DVD. It has a belt-driven turntable onto which you clamp the disc. With a specially mounted cutting tool, the lathe trims the edge at a 45 degree bevel. This tool also makes the disc totally concentric, thus reducing potential vibration an off-centre disc can induce in disc transport.
The process is straightforward and quick; twenty seconds or so. You then need to mark the edge with the supplied permanent marker. There are positive reviews available. The inprovement in sound, IMHO, is directly related to making the disc concentric, not so much the “scattered edge light” contention. Your results may vary.
